PRESS RELEASE: University of Illinois at Chicago Stands Among Top Public Universities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

University of Illinois at Chicago stands among top public universities

As one of the most praised schools for their work in the field of research and rich diversity, UIC has taken a landing at spot 23 as best public university.

Chicago, Feb. 19, 2018 Ivy League schools are not the only universities offering high quality education. The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) has been ranked 23 out of 100 by Times Higher Education as one the Best U.S Public Universities and Colleges. Data pulled from the Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education was used to determine the ranking.

“We are delighted to see UIC included among the top 25 public universities in the nation in the most recent Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings,” expressed Michael Amiridis, Chancellor of UIC. “The mythology of this survey, which evaluates student outcomes and faculty productivity, reflects the quality of the student experience in our campus.”

Variables that correspond with students values are taken into consideration when determining the rank. The school’s ability to provide emphasis on available resources, graduation rates, campus diversity, loan repayments, engagement, environment and employment after graduation are among these factors, but diversity can arguably be one of the most prevalent at UIC.

“I feel very privileged and grateful to be attending a school with amazing opportunities and resources,” said Micheal Turner, a sophomore at UIC. “As a black student, I feel accepted and motivated at this school, and I wouldn’t feel the same learning elsewhere.”

In addition to their high placement, UIC also has more in store to draw in students. The university has a chance to make history by combining with John Marshall Law School. John Marshall Law School and UIC have been discussing the possibility of the law institute becoming apart of the university, making it the only public law school in the city.

The joint partnership of the two schools would open a door of possibilities for students. Dual-degree programs could be offered, meaning students would have the chance to graduate earlier and save money. Athletic and extracurricular activities would also be more accessible to John Marshall Students if the combination happens.
